Separation

In Separation, two figures, one male and one female, are perched atop ledges from which they seem about to jump.  From their base, black lines trace a maze-like pattern that runs along walls and to the floor, ultimately dead-ending at an expansive, black barrier.  Though they are directly across from one another, they cannot see each other and are doomed never to meet.

This piece was created from the emotions the artist felt after leaving for an abroad residency only weeks after getting married, and leaving her new partner behind.
